Web Hosting
What is a web hosting company?
When we've designed and built your website we need to 'park it' somewhere so that it is visible on the world wide web and that is where a web hosting company comes in. Hosting companies provide you with a parking space, if you like, where all your website files and images sit. Then when someone types your domain name into their web browser it is to the hosting company's servers that the search engines will point.
Stand UP website hosting:
We don't directly offer hosting capabilities ourselves - generally web designers who offer hosting are often merely resellers of others' services - and we are up front about our role in your hosting solution. We can recommend hosting providers and we can set up, administer and liaise with your providers on your behalf but essentially we leave the hosting services to the people that specialise in it.
We think that this set up benefits you as clients (you are free to make your own decisions about where your website is hosted and, as such, are not tied to stand UP should you want to 'move' your website elsewhere in the future); and it benefits us as web designers and marketers because we can concentrate on getting the best results out of your website for you without having to also worry about the nitty gritty details of your hosting servers.
It's your choice
If you already have a hosting company we are happy to deal with your chosen provider when working on your website.
However, if you don't already have a web hosting provider we currently recommend:
Prices vary across these 3 providers but all provide good, solid performance and support commensurate with their prices. We can advise you about which one to choose based on your own website and your budget. We can also set up and administer your hosting account for you.
We don't make any money out of hosting, we pass costs directly onto you, our clients, and generally don't charge anything for the time it takes to set up and manage hosting accounts for you. Unless something goes drastically wrong and it takes hours of our time to liaise with your host company on your behalf that part of our service is generally free. (You'll be pleased to know that nothing drastic has happened so far...)
Of course there are many other hosting companies out there but you know the old saying: if it ain't broke...
